St. Paul University Club Wedding

Working with Katy and Jimmy was such a treat!!  They came in with enthusiasm and excitement about their wedding and all the little touches and details associated with it.  Their wedding was my biggest to date and it was really a lot of fun to "tackle"!  I think I can best describe the theme as "classy elegance".  We did everything in whites and touches of a couple of different shades of light pink.

The reception was held at the St. Paul University Club Hotel and it was truly a beautiful site!  The architecture and feel of the room really stood out to me.

I can't wait to see the professional photos, but for now I have some photos (of just the reception flowers) I took to share with you.

Here are a couple of views of the reception room, with just some of our arrangements, etc.

We did three different arrangements for the room  - a tall pillsner vase with a fluffy white and pink top, a set of three cylinder vases with white dendrobium orchids and floating candles, and a square low arrangement of the same types of flowers used in the tall arrangements.  Check out the pretty venue - the lights, windows, and architecture was super pretty.

Here are some close ups of the submerged flower arrangement.  We added some "bling ribbon" around the base of the cylinders and added some globe votives and floating candles.  She had a thoughtful idea for her table numbers - they asked for people to write down messages for them to open and look at on the wedding anniversary of the number on the table.  They are covered through their 36th anniversary!

Here are a couple views of the short square arrangement.  They had some light pink ribbon underneath the bling ribbon to pull out some of the pinks in the arrangements of white hydrangea, football mums, and three different shades of pink spray roses...as well as a mirror and square votives.

For the tall arrangements, we used a lot of white hydrangea, white football mums, some white stock, and then a couple of shades of pink roses and spray roses.   We had bling ribbon around the top of the vase, some hanging crystal garland in water in the vase (which lit up beautifully with the candlelight) and then we added regular and silver mercury glass votives around the base.  They reminded me of big fluffy ice cream cones.

They had a big "harvest" table, where the wedding party and some of the main family had tables together, where they were facing each other.  We put some bud vases with dendrobium orchids to surround the bridal bouquet, which would be placed there later, as well as all the other girls' bouquets.  We added lots of votives and some of the square designs and cylinder vase designs along the table.

This was the cupcake table.  We added a little bud vase with bling around the middle and then one of the big arrangements on the side and we sprinkled a few pink and white petals around the table.  I wish I had a photo of the different cupcakes!  They looked great!  I will hopefully get some photos of all the fun little touches later on.

They had a huge place card area.  We decided to add some floating candles with clear stones and bling ribbon around the base to the back of the table.  We also sprinkled a few rose petals and added some bud vases with dendrobium orchids.

They had an awesome candy table too with little chinese take-out boxes in pink for people to make little gift bags.

And the one last little touch I have is the gift table.  She had a really pretty box for cards and we added one of the square arrangements to this table.

Thanks again Jimmy and Katy for letting me be a part of such a warm, fun celebration!

Harriet Island Paddleboat Wedding

Jana came in with a beautiful color scheme of purples and pool blue.  Her bridesmaid's dresses were pool blue (kind of a beautiful lighter aqua color) and she wanted to mix in purples and white flowers with it.  When I found out she was having the wedding on a paddleboat, I was excited to see how it would all turn out!  I haven't ever been on one or worked with them before.  I thought the setting was beautiful, and I'm sure she got many fabulous photos!  I can't wait to see them...and hopefully I can share a few when they come in.  For now, I just thought I'd post a few of the ones we took when we were setting up.

Jana was a dream to work with...I had a lot of fun planning with her and her mom!  Jana loves hydrangeas, so they were a big part of the wedding.  We ordered in some really beautiful Dutch hydrangea.  The colors were soooo awesome!  I am hoping the professional photographer really got some pictures to show that.  Mine are a bit less than perfect.

I always forget to take photos when I'm getting ready for the set-up, so I didn't get photos of the church flowers, but here are a few from the reception site and a couple of the bouquets.  The bridal bouquet was just a larger version of the bridesmaid's bouquets.  We used dark purple hydrangea with dark purple stock, dark purple lisianthus, dark purple freesia, lavender freesia, dark purple veronica, and a little dark blue delphinium.  You can see the pool blue sashes on the chairs.

Here are a few of the tables partially set up.  We only had a little space to work with on the smaller tables, so we just did a simple middle vase of hydrangea and frosted votives and bud vases filled with lisianthus on each side.  All the tables were the same except for the color of the hydrangea.  We did alternating tables of blue, purple, and white.  This photo shows the bright blue hydrangea.  Wish you could see it in person - the color was really beautiful!

Just a couple of miscellaneous things - a wrist corsage, a bout, and the cake.

I can't wait to share the professional photographer's photos!  Thanks so much Jana!!  I had so much fun working on your wedding!

Hot Pink!

Carrie and Abe got married in the Rosemount Steeple Center, in Rosemount.  It's a unique little venue that feels like a small town church.  Carrie loved the hot pinks and gerbera daisies, so we put together some fun bright bouquets for her and her bridesmaids, as well as some ceremony flowers of hot pink and green glads and curly willow.  The tables had a simple arrangement of a square vase with sheer pink ribbon, clear stones, and a floating hot pink gerb.

Here are some photos from the photographer - www.traceyjoyphotography.com.  She has a blog with more photos available - here is the link:  http://traceyjoyphotography.wordpress.com/2012/06/12/carrie-abe-married-minneapolis-wedding-photography/

These three photos are the bridal bouquet.  They were a mix of green hydrangea, green poms, hot pink gerbs, and lily grass.

Here are the centerpieces of just a single gerb floating with some lily grass and clear stones

Here are a couple of my photos that show the ceremony flowers, which are hot pink glads and green glads, as well as some curly willow.

Here is also one of my photos which shows the bridesmaid's bouquet...just a little different wrap and smaller than the bride's.

Thanks so much Carrie and Abe!  Best wishes for a beautiful future!

Early Spring Wedding

Blues and Purples have become really popular wedding colors...my first wedding of the "season" included some really pretty combinations...enjoy some of the pictures!

I made the bridal bouquet out of some pretty blue hydrangea, some white avalanche roses, some white mini-callas, some white wax flower, and a little bit of ruscus.  Just a simple white satin wrap .  Here are a few close-ups.

Then we also did a couple of altar flower arrangements for the church in blues, whites, and purples.

These included some white and purple/blue stock, some light and dark blue delphinium, some purple/blue larkspur, some blue hydrangea, white football mums, dark purple lisianthus, ruscus, myrtle, salal, and seastar fern.

Here are a couple of photos of the happy bride and groom -

Vanessa and Dirk

Vanessa and Dirk had a beautiful, elegant wedding of mostly whites, ivories, and a touch of green.  They were married at their family lake home and then had a reception at Buckstone in Burnsville (on Buck Hill).  I had so much fun working with Vanessa and Dirk - they were both really involved in the flowers and added a lot to the whole process.

I am looking forward to showing you the professional photos, but in the meantime, here are a few that I took that day.

This is the arch that we made with ivy, grapevine, dendrobium orchids, white wax flower, and white dahlias.  They had the perfect path from the house that made the aisle.  We added white rose petals to the sides of the aisle.

On the chairs along the aisle, we had white mini-callas and ribbon.

At the reception hall, we had a couple of arrangements of hydrangea and curly willow and wound some ivy, grapevine, waxflower, and green hypericum berries around the bannister.  There was a guestbook table at the entryway that we added a small vase of flowers to as well.

There was a bar area that we added some floating fuji mums with lily grass and clear stones to the tables.  There was a candy bar there as well.

The reception tables we had a couple of different kinds of centerpieces.  We had vases with white tulips on some of the tables...I love this look - really clean, simple, and elegant.

Then on some of the other tables, we had square vases with mixes of whites and greens.  For the small head tables, we had a mix of three different centerpieces.

More to come on this wedding from the professionals!  Can't wait for you to see the bouquets and flower girl kissing balls!
